Vinh Hung tower, Archaeological tower in Vinh Hung A, Vietnam.
Vinh Hung tower is a brick structure with a square base located in Vinh Hung A, Bac Lieu province, rising about 10 meters high. The structure is built from bricks, roof tiles, and stone, showing the craftsmanship of earlier construction methods.
The tower was built around 900 AD during the Angkor period and is one of the few remaining Khmer structures in the Mekong Delta. Its existence shows the historical spread of that cultural influence to this southern region.
The tower displays Buddhist symbols and holds old copper objects that show its connection to regional religious practices. These findings suggest the site's importance as a place of worship.
The site can be reached from National Highway 1A by traveling from Bac Lieu toward Ca Mau and turning at Vinh Hung market after Sap Bridge. The location lies in a flat area, making it easy to access.
The tower contains Sanskrit inscriptions, a rare sign of cultural contact between Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent. These linguistic markings make the site an important window into ancient trade networks.
