Xuân Trường

Xuân Trường is a rural district in Nam Định Province in northern Vietnam, spanning across the Red River Delta area and comprising nineteen communes. The region is characterized by rice fields and small settlements typical of the delta landscape.

The district was under the administration of the Thien Truong court during the Lê dynasty before transitioning to Tran Son Nam jurisdiction during the Nguyễn period. These administrative shifts reflect the major political changes that shaped Vietnamese history.

The area is home to several churches, pagodas, and temples, including Keo Hành Thiện Pagoda and Kiên Lao temples, reflecting how different faiths coexist in the local communities. These religious buildings are woven into daily life and remain important gathering places for residents.

The district is best visited during the dry season when rice fields are most visible and village roads are easier to navigate. Local craft villages are spread throughout the area and can be explored at a leisurely pace.

The area is known for craft villages specializing in mechanics, silkworm breeding, embroidery, rice paper production, and traditional wine making. These craft traditions are passed down through generations and shape the local economy and way of life.
