Cù lao An Bình, River island in Vinh Long Province, Vietnam.
Cù lao An Bình is a river island in Vinh Long Province situated between the Tien and Co Chien rivers. The island consists of agricultural land dotted with fruit orchards and organized into several farming communes.
The island formed from alluvial deposits left by the Mekong Delta branches and evolved from a fishing settlement into agricultural communities. This transformation reflects how the region adapted to its natural surroundings.
Residents live in traditional wooden stilt houses and tend fruit gardens that shape daily life on the island. Visitors can experience this way of living directly by spending time with local families in their homes.
Visitors reach the island by taking a ferry from An Binh pier in Vinh Long city, which takes about 15 minutes. The best time to visit is during the fruit harvest season between July and August when the orchards are in full production.
Tien Chau Pagoda has stood on the island for more than 250 years and is the oldest temple in Vinh Long Province. This sanctuary holds numerous historical artifacts that offer insights into the spiritual heritage of the region.
