Manuc's Inn

Manuc's Inn is a historic caravanserai in Bucharest's Old Town featuring a central courtyard with wooden galleries, stone arches arranged on multiple floors. The structure wraps around this interior space with traditional Romanian architectural details visible throughout.

Construction began in 1808 when Armenian merchant Emanuel Mârzaian built this structure for trading and lodging purposes. The building later became involved in important diplomatic meetings and served various public functions throughout the 1800s.

The inn served as a gathering place where merchants, diplomats, and performers mixed together over time. Walking through its spaces today, you can sense how different groups of people have passed through and left their mark on the building.

The building sits in the Old Town and operates as a restaurant, cafe, and event space for visitors to explore. You can access the interior during business hours to view the courtyard, galleries, and enjoy food or drinks at various service points.

The inn hosted Romania's first operetta performance and temporarily served as the city's administrative headquarters during the 1800s. This dual role shows how central the building was to Bucharest's cultural and civic life at that time.
