ميناء الجار, Archaeological port site near Yanbu, Saudi Arabia
Al-Jar is an archaeological port site on the Red Sea coast south of Yanbu in Saudi Arabia. The remains show several mounds enclosed by walls, with visible traces of ancient docking facilities and structures.
The port developed during the early Islamic period and became the main maritime entry point for Medina, handling significant trade traffic. Its importance gradually declined as trading routes shifted and eventually the site was abandoned.
