7 World Trade Center, Skyscraper in Manhattan, New York.
The original building at this site was a 47-story office tower located near the Twin Towers as part of the larger World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan. It was built above an underground power facility and housed numerous financial firms and government agencies.
The building was completed in 1987 and served as an office tower for various organizations in the Financial District. It collapsed on the evening of September 11, 2001 after uncontrolled fires were ignited by debris from the North Tower.
The site holds profound significance due to the tragic events of 9/11.
The original building no longer exists and was replaced by a new construction completed in 2006. Visitors can explore the redeveloped area around the World Trade Center complex and visit nearby memorial sites.
The collapse was the first documented case of a tall office building failing primarily due to uncontrolled fires without direct aircraft impact. Firefighters were unable to extinguish the flames because the water supply system was damaged when the Twin Towers fell.
