Isla de Plata, Caribbean island in Mochima National Park, Venezuela.
Isla de Plata extends 150 meters in length and 30 meters in width, featuring white sand beaches bordered by coconut trees.
During colonial times, British pirates Henry Morgan and Sir Francis Drake reportedly used this island as a base for their Caribbean operations.
The island's name derives from the silvery reflections created by sunlight on the surrounding Caribbean waters throughout different times of the day.
Visitors can only reach the island through maritime routes departing from Guanta, and camping requires prior authorization from Inparques national park service.
The island houses a water park that opened in August 2013, adding recreational facilities to its natural landscape.
