Hirvensalo bridge, Road bridge in Turku, Finland
Hirvensalo bridge is a road bridge in Turku that spans the Pitkäsalmi strait, connecting the mainland side to Hirvensalo island. It carries Connecting Road 1821 and serves as the main route for residents and traffic moving between these two areas.
Built in 1993, the bridge created a direct road connection between mainland Turku and Hirvensalo island. This infrastructure project enabled residential development and growth on the island that followed in later years.
The bridge provides views toward Turku Castle while serving as a connection point between urban Turku and the growing residential communities of Hirvensalo island.
The bridge is open daily to regular vehicle traffic and offers good visibility across the strait. During peak hours, traffic can become congested, so visitors traveling by foot should use designated pathways carefully.
Located at coordinates 60°25'22"N and 22°14'11"E, the bridge supports the expanding population of Hirvensalo, which reached 9,000 residents by 2015.
