MS Bore, Museum ship at Port of Turku, Finland
MS Bore is a former passenger ferry now functioning as a museum ship at the Port of Turku. The vessel features multiple decks with original cabins, engine room displays, dining areas, and exhibitions about maritime history and ship engineering.
The vessel was built in 1960 at a Swedish shipyard and operated as a passenger ferry between Finland and Sweden for several decades. Following its retirement in 2010, it was converted into a museum and has since remained at the Port of Turku.
The ship displays how people lived and worked aboard ferries in the past, with exhibits about crew members and their daily routines. The collection shows how vital maritime transport was for connecting Finland and Sweden across the Baltic.
The ship is easily accessible and features accessible routes through various areas, from the engine room to passenger cabins. Wear comfortable shoes as there are many stairs and narrow corridors, particularly between decks and throughout the vessel.
The ship still offers the chance to stay overnight in restored original cabins, creating an unusually immersive museum experience. Visitors can sleep in the same rooms where ferry passengers traveled decades ago, bringing the 1960s to life on the water.
