Font-de-Gaume, Prehistoric cave gallery in Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil, France.

The Font-de-Gaume cave extends over 120 meters in length, containing more than 200 Paleolithic paintings and engravings of animals on its limestone walls.

Discovered in 1901, this cave preserves authentic polychrome paintings from the Magdalenian period, dating back approximately 17,000 years before present time.

The cave walls display numerous representations of bison, horses, and mammoths, executed through various techniques including engraving, painting, and combined methods.

Access to Font-de-Gaume requires advance booking with a maximum of 78 visitors per day, divided into small groups for guided tours lasting about one hour.

Font-de-Gaume remains one of the last caves in France with original polychrome paintings still open for public viewing under controlled conditions.
