Villa La Californie

Villa La Californie is an early 20th century residence built with eclectic architectural elements in Cannes. The structure combines different style features using white stone, multiple balconies, and tall windows that reflect the character of the 1920s era.

The residence was built in 1920 as Villa Fénelon and later became known as the home of a major 20th century artist. From 1955 to 1961, the property served as a workspace where he created numerous works inspired by the surrounding landscape and coastal views.

The residence served as a working space where an important modern artist created and experimented with new ideas during his time here. Today, visitors can sense the creative energy that once filled these rooms overlooking the coast.

The property sits in the La Californie neighborhood and is accessible from Cannes' main thoroughfares. A restoration undertaken in the 1980s brought the building to its current state, and it now carries the alternative name Pavillon de Flore.

After the death of a famous artist who lived here, numerous unknown artworks were discovered hidden within the property. These discoveries reveal how much creative work took place during the residence and what treasures the rooms had preserved.
