Shemurat Naẖal Soreq, Nature reserve in Jerusalem hills, Israel.
The reserve encompasses extensive hiking trails through Mediterranean vegetation, where oaks and pines grow alongside native shrubs adapted to regional conditions.
Following a quarry blast in 1968, workers discovered an underground network of caves containing stalactites formed over five million years ago.
The reserve functions as an educational center for environmental studies, offering programs about local ecosystems and conservation methods to students and researchers.
Visitors can access the reserve from Jerusalem via the Ein Kerem-Bar-Giora road, following directional signs for 5 kilometers until reaching the parking area.
The underground cave system spans approximately 200 feet in length and width, making it the largest natural cave formation in Israel.
