Sagareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, Wildlife refuge in Maharashtra, India
The 10.87 square kilometer sanctuary contains dry mixed deciduous forests where blackbucks, wild boars, sambhars, and numerous bird species find shelter.
The sanctuary emerged in 1975 through the conservation efforts of D. M. Mohite, transforming the land into a protected forest environment.
The Maharashtra forest department introduced specific plant varieties including Tamarind, Neem, Nilgiri, and Acacia to maintain the ecological balance.
The sanctuary lies 30 kilometers from Sangli city, with access through National Highway 4 and regular bus services from neighboring towns.
From the highest hill point, visitors observe the Krishna River flowing through agricultural lands while spotting various native wildlife species.
