Carschinahütte, Mountain refuge in Grisons, Switzerland.
The Carschinahütte is a mountain refuge at 2236 meters elevation on the south side of Sulzfluh in the Rätikon range of eastern Switzerland. It accommodates 75 guests in shared dormitory rooms and serves evening meals with soup, salad, and main courses during the summer season.
The refuge was built in 1968 to accommodate the growing number of hikers and climbers in the Swiss Alps. Its construction reflects the rising popularity of alpinism and mountain tourism during that era.
The shelter draws mountaineers and hikers who pause here during their exploration of Rätikon peaks and connect with others. It serves as a natural meeting point for people crossing the alpine landscape and sharing their mountain experiences.
The shelter is best visited during summer months when conditions are favorable and trails are safe for travel. Visitors should bring warm clothing and sturdy footwear, as conditions at this elevation can change rapidly.
A heated winter room remains open to self-sufficient mountaineers from fall through spring, making the hut an option for winter trekking. This winter access requires advance coordination with hut management and personal provisions.
