Mont Korhogo is a granite rock and hill on the edge of the city of Korhogo, in northern Côte d'Ivoire. It rises gently above the surrounding savanna, which is covered with scattered trees and dry grasses.
The granite rock of the hill was formed by ancient geological forces long before the city of Korhogo existed. Over the centuries, its elevated position made it a natural lookout point, used by local communities to watch over the surrounding land.
The hill holds spiritual meaning for the Senufo people who live in the region. They see the rocks and the land as a link to their ancestors, and rituals connected to these beliefs still take place near the site today.
The summit can be reached on foot in about 30 minutes along a simple dirt path, with no special equipment needed. The early morning or late afternoon are the best times to go, as the midday heat can make the walk uncomfortable.
At the base of the hill, local granite quarries have provided building and road material for the surrounding area for generations. This means the hill has shaped the city not only as a landmark but also as a source of its physical construction.
