Sui Wo Court, Home Ownership Scheme housing estate in Fo Tan, Hong Kong.
Sui Wo Court is a housing estate with nine residential blocks in Sha Tin, offering about 3,500 apartments. The flats range from small to medium-sized and sit on elevated ground above the Wo Che district.
The estate was completed in 1980 and received a Silver Medal from the Hong Kong Institute of Architects in 1981. Architect James Kinoshita created a project that combined affordable housing with modern planning.
The housing complex represents a government initiative to provide affordable housing for residents with moderate incomes. It demonstrates how the city organized living spaces for its people.
A bus terminus right next to the commercial center makes getting there by public transport easy and straightforward. A planned escalator link to Fo Tan station will improve connections in the future.
The site sits on elevated ground, giving residents open views across Sha Tin and toward Tolo Harbour. This raised location was a distinctive feature of the original design.
