Tao Heung Foods of Mankind Museum, Food museum in Fo Tan district, Hong Kong
The Tao Heung Foods of Mankind Museum is a food museum in Fo Tan that displays nearly 1,000 objects from around the world. The collection includes herbs, food samples, cutlery, and kitchen equipment representing different regions and cooking traditions.
The museum was first established in Fanling, where it operated before being relocated and renovated. It reopened in October 2005 at its present location following these changes.
The ground floor displays how Egyptian food practices developed over time, while dedicated sections show how tea, coffee, and wine shaped eating habits across different regions.
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, with two time slots available for visits in the morning and afternoon. It is easy to navigate on foot, and visitors should allow adequate time to explore the various exhibition areas.
The museum offers hands-on workshops where visitors can make chocolate and learn international cooking techniques directly. These interactive experiences allow you to understand food practices by doing them yourself rather than just viewing displays.
