Tomb and Temple of Sima Qian

The tomb consists of a large mound with traditional Chinese architectural elements, located at the base of Mount Li in Shaanxi Province.

Sima Qian, who lived during the Han Dynasty from 145-86 BCE, created the systematic 'Records of the Grand Historian' covering 2000 years of Chinese history.

The temple incorporates classical Chinese design principles with inscribed tablets and ceremonial spaces dedicated to the memory of this influential historian.

Visitors can access both the tomb complex and temple grounds throughout the year, with guided tours available in multiple languages through the site office.

The burial site contains undiscovered manuscripts and artifacts from the Han period, preserved within chambers that remain sealed since ancient times.
