Hancheng Confucian Temple
Hancheng Confucian Temple, Ancient temple complex in Hancheng, China.
The temple features 22 main buildings with 78 rooms arranged around four interconnected courtyards, forming a structured architectural ensemble in western China.
Built during the Yuan Dynasty between 1271 and 1368, the temple received recognition from Chinese emperors, starting with Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty.
The Dacheng Palace within the temple served as the central building for ceremonial offerings to commemorate the teachings of Confucius through memorial tablets.
The temple opens daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM with free admission, and visitors can reach it by taking bus 101 from Hancheng stations.
The decorated screen walls cover 139 square meters with glazed tiles displaying dragons and phoenixes, made from local loess materials of North China.
