Chongfu Temple, Buddhist temple in Shuozhou, China
The Chongfu Temple complex spans 23,400 square meters and contains five courtyards, ten palaces, including halls dedicated to various Buddhist deities and ceremonial structures.
Founded in 665 under Tang Dynasty by E Guogong Weichijingde, the temple received national protection status in 1988 as a Major Historical and Cultural Site.
The Amitabha Hall, constructed in 1143, represents one of three remaining large Buddha halls from the Liao and Jin periods in China.
Travelers can access the temple at East Street #94 in New City, Shuozhou, with an 8.5-hour train journey from Beijing to reach the location.
The temple's Amitabha Hall features a minus column construction method, maximizing interior space through an architectural technique rarely found in Chinese temples.
