Shisi Temple

Shisi Temple is a Buddhist sanctuary in Jingning She Autonomous County located on Baixiang Mountain at approximately 1000 meters elevation. The main hall stretches 12 meters in both length and width, stands 10.3 meters tall, and features a timber construction divided into three separate sections.

The temple was constructed in 1140 during the Southern Song Dynasty and represents an example of religious architecture from that period. In 2001, the structure received designation as a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level.

The temple displays traditional Chinese building methods that pilgrims can observe directly, with its layered roofs and intricately carved wooden structures. Visitors can appreciate the craftsmanship and attention to detail that define sacred spaces from this era.

The sanctuary sits in a remote mountain location and is best accessed through established routes from Lishui. Visitors should prepare for the mountainous terrain and variable weather conditions.
