Kau Nga Ling

Kau Nga Ling is a mountain range on Lantau Island divided into three sections: West, Middle, and East, each featuring sharp jagged ridges. The terrain offers steep scrambles and exposed sections that create a challenging climbing experience throughout the route.

The mountain served as a strategic lookout point during past military operations, leaving behind fortifications and installations. Visitors can still spot remnants of these structures along the walking routes today.

The name refers to dog teeth because of the jagged peaks that resemble canine fangs when viewed from certain angles.

Wear sturdy hiking boots with good grip because the terrain includes steep scrambles and slippery rock sections. Bring plenty of water and start early to ensure enough daylight for the full route.

The Lifeline section between West and Middle Kau Nga features an extremely narrow ridge where only one person can cross at a time. This bottleneck creates a memorable moment that many hikers recall as the route's most distinctive passage.
