Ngong Ping 360 Midpoint Overlook

Ngong Ping 360 Midpoint Overlook is an observation platform on Lantau Island positioned at 600 meters elevation, offering views of Tung Chung Bay and Hong Kong International Airport. The platform sits along the cable car route and connects to the Ngong Ping Rescue Trail for hikers.

The overlook became accessible in 2006 with the completion of the Ngong Ping cable car system, which significantly changed how people could reach this remote mountain area. Before that time, the region was primarily accessed by hikers willing to tackle challenging trails.

The overlook sits near Hau Wong Temple, where visitors can observe locals performing daily prayers and leaving offerings at the shrine. This spot bridges contemporary tourism with spiritual practices that have been part of the mountain for centuries.

The area has water stations and informational panels set up for visitors taking a break from hiking or cable car rides. Weather can change quickly at this elevation, so bringing layers and sturdy footwear is advisable for comfortable viewing.

From this spot, visitors can watch aircraft on approach, cable car cabins moving along their lines, and hikers navigating the trails below simultaneously. This convergence of different forms of movement creates an unusual vantage point for observing how people traverse the landscape.
