Tin Yuet Estate, Public rental housing complex in Tin Shui Wai, Hong Kong.
Tin Yuet Estate is a public rental housing complex in Tin Shui Wai, in the Yuen Long District of Hong Kong, made up of six residential towers. The towers, named Yuet Fu House, Yuet Kwai House, Yuet Wing House, Yuet Wah House, and Yuet Tai House, are laid out across the site and connected by covered walkways and open green areas.
The complex was built in two phases, with the first buildings completed in 2000 and the remaining ones finished in 2002. This approach was common in Tin Shui Wai, a planned satellite town that began taking shape in the 1980s to house a growing population in the New Territories.
Tin Yuet Estate sits in the heart of Tin Shui Wai, a neighborhood made up largely of public housing where daily life unfolds around the estate's walkways and nearby shops. The open areas between the buildings are used throughout the day by residents of all ages, from children playing after school to older adults taking morning walks.
The estate sits along Tin Wah Road and has a direct connection to the Light Rail Tin Yuet stop, making it easy to reach from other parts of the New Territories. Paths inside the grounds are flat and straightforward to follow on foot.
Tin Yuet Estate has its own Light Rail stop positioned right at the edge of the grounds, a level of transit access that is not common for housing estates of this type in Hong Kong. This stop was planned as part of the neighborhood layout from the start, rather than added after the buildings were already standing.
