Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heath Nature Park

Naturpark Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide is a large protected area in western Mecklenburg with extensive forests, lakes, and heathland. The terrain spreads across multiple districts and offers different landscape types within close proximity.

The protected area received official designation in 1994, making it one of the first nature reserves in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern after German reunification. This establishment marked a new beginning for conservation in the region.

Local people use the area for outdoor activities like hiking and wildlife watching, which creates a sense of connection to nature. The communities nearby maintain this relationship with the landscape as part of their daily rhythm.
