Algiers Province, Administrative province in northern Algeria

The province spans 1,190 square kilometers along the Mediterranean coast and contains thirteen districts including Bab El Oued, Draria, and El Harrach.

Following Algeria's independence in 1962, the former French department transformed into Algiers Province, marking a new administrative structure for the region.

The province's heritage manifests through Ottoman architecture, traditional markets, regional cuisine, and festivals that combine Berber, Arab, and Mediterranean influences.

The area functions as Algeria's governmental center with numerous ministries, embassies, educational institutions, and transportation networks serving its population.

Each of the fifty-seven communes within the province maintains distinct neighborhood characteristics while sharing access to Mediterranean coastal areas.
