Belbis

Belbis is a city in the Sharqia region on the eastern side of the Nile Delta. The city has traditional markets and buildings that reflect how people live their everyday lives.

The city was a strategic location during the Islamic invasion in 640 and later played an important role in the Crusades. These military events shaped its development over centuries.

The mosque and Coptic church show the religious diversity that lives and is visible in this city. Visitors can see both places and understand how different communities exist alongside each other here.

The city lies east of the Nile Delta and is reachable by common routes. Visitors can explore traditional markets here, which are best seen during daytime hours.

An old fortification at the city entrance dates back to the time of Baybars and shows how water was controlled here. This structure survives today and tells of earlier engineering methods.
