Malkata, Archaeological site in Luxor Governorate, Egypt
The palace complex includes administrative buildings, residential areas, gardens, and pools spread across an extensive area on the Nile west bank.
Pharaoh Amenhotep III constructed Malkata during the 18th dynasty around 1350 BCE as his residence and administrative center in Thebes.
The archaeological excavations at Malkata revealed numerous artifacts, including pottery, tools, and sculptures that detail daily life during ancient Egypt.
Visitors can reach the archaeological site by taking a boat across the Nile from Luxor city, followed by local transportation to the western bank.
The site contains remnants of painted wall decorations featuring nature scenes and geometric patterns that demonstrate ancient Egyptian artistic techniques.
