TT280, Ancient tomb in Sheikh Abd el-Qurna necropolis, Egypt
The TT280 tomb consists of multiple chambers carved into the limestone cliff face of Sheikh Abd el-Qurna, featuring detailed wall paintings and architectural elements.
Archaeologists discovered the tomb in 1895, with subsequent excavations in 1920 revealing an undisturbed chamber containing numerous models of daily Egyptian life.
The tomb's decorative elements depict agricultural scenes, boat journeys, and domestic activities that reflect the social structure of Middle Kingdom Egypt.
Visitors can reach the tomb site from Luxor by crossing the Nile to the west bank and following the marked paths through the Sheikh Abd el-Qurna necropolis.
The collection of wooden models found in TT280 includes detailed representations of boats, kitchens, and workshops, now displayed in museums worldwide.
