TT27, Ancient tomb in El-Assasif, Theban Necropolis, Egypt.
The tomb TT27 contains detailed hieroglyphic inscriptions and decorative elements that document the life of chief steward Sheshonk during ancient Egypt's Late Period.
During the reign of kings Apries and Amasis II in the Late Period, Sheshonq served as chief steward to Ankhnesneferibre, the God's Wife of Amun.
The burial chamber features architectural elements and artistic representations that demonstrate the complex religious beliefs and administrative structures of ancient Egyptian society.
Visitors can reach the tomb by traveling to the west bank of the Nile opposite Luxor, where the Theban Necropolis stretches across the desert landscape.
The tomb preserves the legacy of two generations of chief stewards, as both Sheshonq and his father Harsiesi held this position for the God's Wife.
