TT27

TT27 is a tomb in El-Assasif, part of the Theban Necropolis on the west bank of the Nile across from Luxor. Its interior walls are covered with hieroglyphic inscriptions and painted scenes that record details about the person buried there.

The tomb was built for a high official who served during the Late Period as steward to the divine consort Ankhnesneferibre under kings Apries and Amasis II. His father had previously held this same important position.

The burial chamber displays artwork and inscriptions that show how the deceased was honored and what role he held in the administrative life of his time.

The tomb is located in the western part of the Theban Necropolis, where visitors walk across sandy and uneven ground to reach different monuments. Proper footwear and water are important, as the area is very open and has little shade.

What sets this tomb apart is that it preserves the record of two generations of the same family who both served as chief stewards, making it a rare example of power passing down through generations. This continuity reveals how influential and respected the family was.
