Gajraula, human settlement
Gajraula is a town in Amroha district, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, sitting along a main road with fields stretching out on its edges. Streets are lined with small shops, older buildings, and newer factory structures, with bicycles, rickshaws, and light vehicles moving through daily.
Gajraula grew as a small trading point and expanded significantly after a railway line connected it to larger cities. That rail link allowed local farmers to send crops like wheat and sugarcane to distant markets, shifting the town's economic base over time.
Gajraula is a place where different religions coexist and people celebrate their traditions together. During festivals like Diwali and Eid, the streets fill with lights and music, while local customs show themselves through folk songs and dances that strengthen the sense of community.
The town sits directly on National Highway 9 and can be reached from Delhi by road in around two hours. Gajraula Junction railway station offers regular trains toward Delhi, Lucknow, and other cities, and e-rickshaws are a common way to get around locally.
Gajraula hosts major pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing plants, including facilities run by Jubilant Life Sciences and Teva API, which is unusual for a town of its size. This industrial presence draws workers and specialists from across the wider region and has shaped the character of the town considerably.
