Moschea della Misericordia, Islamic center in Centro Catania, Italy.
The Moschea della Misericordia spans three floors across 400 square meters and accommodates up to 1,000 worshippers during Ramadan services.
The mosque opened in December 2012 through self-taxation efforts of the Islamic community of Sicily, transforming an abandoned theater into a religious space.
The mosque operates a food bank service in collaboration with the Food Bank of Sicily, supporting 500 families since Christmas 2013.
The mosque functions as the largest Islamic worship center in Southern Italy, located at Piazza Cutelli under the leadership of Imam Kheit Abdelhafid.
The facility provides after-school programs for Italian and foreign students through partnerships with local religious and charitable organizations.
