Kusanagi Athletic Stadium, Athletic stadium in Suruga-ku, Japan
The Kusanagi Athletic Stadium features an eight-lane track, natural grass field spanning 106 by 69 meters, and four lighting towers providing 1000 lux illumination.
The stadium opened in 1957 as the main venue for the 12th National Sports Festival of Japan, marking a significant development in Shizuoka's sports infrastructure.
Each April, the stadium hosts the Shizuoka Relay Carnival and serves as the finish line for the Shizuoka Inter-City Ekiden running competition.
The facility accommodates 28,000 spectators, with 8,000 covered seats in the main stand and 20,000 grass seating spaces in the back stand.
On May 6, 1991, Sergey Bubka set a world record in pole vault at this stadium, reaching a height of 6.07 meters during the Super Track and Field meet.
