Mount Hakkyō, Mountain summit in Yoshino district, Japan
Mount Hakkyō rises to 1915 meters in elevation within the Omine Mountains, marking the highest point in the Kansai region of Nara Prefecture.
The mountain received its name from eight Buddhist scriptures that En no Gyōja, a religious figure, reportedly buried at its peak during ancient times.
Mount Hakkyō forms part of three significant mountain collections: the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains, 100 Famous Kansai Mountains, and Nara 100 Mountains.
The standard climbing route from Gyojamodori-Tunnel-Nishi-guchi provides access to the summit through a three-hour hike on maintained mountain trails.
