Amazuka Kofun, Ancient burial mound in Uzumasa, Kyoto, Japan.
The Amazuka Kofun features a keyhole-shaped structure with two horizontal stone chambers measuring 10 meters and 7.5 meters in length.
Built in the 6th century, this burial site belonged to the Hata clan and represents the architectural practices of the late Kofun period.
The name Amazuka, meaning heavenly mound, reflects the deep connection between ancient Japanese society and their burial traditions for noble families.
Visitors can reach the burial mound by taking a seven-minute walk south from Katabiranotsuji Station on the Keifuku Electric Railroad line.
The burial chambers remain accessible to the public, allowing direct examination of the ancient tomb structures within a residential neighborhood.
