Yama no Furusato Mura

Located at the foot of Mount Mito near Lake Okutama, this 74-acre park features hiking trails, campgrounds, tennis courts, and a central lodge.

Three former villages, Hisashi, Minami, and Kukizawa, occupied the land before the park opened to the public in October 1990.

The park preserves traditional performances such as the Kashima Dance, which holds national recognition as an important intangible folk-culture property.

Visitors reach the park by taking the JR Ome Line to Okutama Station, followed by a bus ride to Oshima Park stop and a shuttle service.

The park contains three distinct nature trails ranging from 1.1 to 3 kilometers, showcasing wasabi fields, charcoal kilns, and old-growth forests.
