Mount Shiraiwa, Mountain summit in Chichibu, Japan
Mount Shiraiwa rises to 1,921 meters within Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park, forming part of the three prominent peaks in the Mount Mitsumine range.
The mountain area contains remnants of an ancient shrine dedicated to Yakushi Nyorai, reflecting centuries of religious practices dating back to the Heian period.
Mount Shiraiwa stands near Mitsumine Shrine, a significant spiritual center where mountain asceticism combines Shinto and Buddhist traditions since 150 CE.
Visitors reach the mountain via train from Ikebukuro Station to Chichibu, followed by a bus connection to the Owa stop for trail access.
The mountain summit presents views of the Arakawa Gorge and Seijo Falls, with opportunities to observe rare cloud formations above the surrounding valleys.
