Nippon Zaidan Building, Corporate headquarters in Akasaka, Tokyo, Japan.
The Nippon Zaidan Building is an eight-story office structure located at 1-2-2 Akasaka in Minato-ku, featuring a large video display facing the street intersection. It functions as a working headquarters with modern facilities and stands as a notable presence in the Akasaka district.
The structure underwent comprehensive renovations from July to September 2017, with foundation offices temporarily moved to Sanno Park Tower during the work. This modernization brought it up to date with contemporary facilities and standards.
The building houses The Nippon Foundation, which runs programs focused on social welfare, education, and community development across Japan. Visitors can sense this as a working hub where charitable initiatives are planned and managed.
The building is accessible via multiple subway stations, with Toranomon Station offering the most direct route through exits 3 or 11. From there, following Sotobori Avenue toward Tameike-sanno leads visitors straight to the entrance.
The structure received the BCS Prize for architectural merit, though visitors often overlook this recognition while passing by. The video display integrated into its facade represents a design approach that merges functional workspace with visual presence on the street.
