Grimm forest

Grimm Forest is a theme park in Shimotsuke dedicated to the fairy tale worlds of the Brothers Grimm, offering visitors an immersive experience of German folk stories. The main building features brick and tile construction with German architectural elements, inspired by the design of the Rottingen government building.

The park opened on November 3, 1996, bringing German fairy tale experiences to Japan's Tochigi Prefecture. This establishment reflects the widespread appreciation for Brothers Grimm stories that extends across cultures and continents.

The grounds celebrate the fairy tale worlds of the Brothers Grimm, presenting stories from different cultures through interactive exhibitions and displays. Visitors can experience how German folk tales connect with their international adaptations throughout the park.

The park operates from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily and remains closed on Tuesdays and at month endings. Visitors should also factor in New Year holiday closures when planning their visit.

Every light fixture and architectural element within the park comes directly from Germany, maintaining authenticity in the smallest details. This commitment to original materials creates the sensation of truly walking through a German village.
