Sia Boey Urban Archaeological Park, Urban archaeological park in George Town, Malaysia
The park extends along the restored Prangin Canal, featuring mature trees, green spaces, and a modern children's playground within its landscaped grounds.
Established in 2019, the site preserves the former Sia Boey Market Building and Prangin Canal, which served as a vital trading area since the 1880s.
The name Sia Boey means 'Town's End' in Hokkien, marking the historical boundary where Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Acehnese communities conducted trade.
Located at 50 Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong, the park welcomes visitors daily from 6 AM to 11 PM without entrance fees.
The Prangin Canal features a granite lock structure supported by local wooden logs, discovered during archaeological excavations in 2015.
