Wilanów, Administrative district in southern Warsaw, Poland

Wilanów is a city district in southern Warsaw located between the Vistula River and the Vistula Slope. The area contains several lakes and nature reserves that give the neighborhood its green character.

The area started as a medieval village called Milanów until King Jan III Sobieski bought it in 1676 and built a baroque palace. This royal decision turned the rural settlement into an important residential location for the city.

The district's name comes from the original village of Milanów and today it mixes older residential areas with new developments. Walking through the streets, you see both historic buildings and modern houses side by side, showing how people from different generations live together.

The western part of the district has received many new residential complexes in recent years that attract young families. Visitors should know that the population is changing rapidly, so the area is developing new shops, parks, and services.

The district is home to the Temple of Divine Providence, an impressive religious building that stands out with its modern design from older structures nearby. Many visitors are surprised by this building as it shows the spiritual life that exists in the neighborhood.
