Wilanów, Administrative district in southern Warsaw, Poland
The district spreads across 36 square kilometers between the Vistula River and the Vistula Slope, containing four nature reserves and multiple lakes.
Starting as a 13th-century village named Milanów, the area transformed when King Jan III Sobieski acquired it in 1676 and built the baroque palace.
The Days of Wilanów festival occurs each September to commemorate King Jan III Sobieski's victory at the Battle of Vienna in 1683.
Recent residential developments in Wilanów Zachodni attract numerous young families, contributing to the district's population growth from 13,000 to 42,000 residents.
The district includes the Temple of Divine Providence on Prymasa Augusta Hlonda Street, representing a major religious construction project in Warsaw.
