Tutin, town and municipality in Serbia
Tutin is a small town in southwestern Serbia, located in Tutin Municipality with around 11,000 residents. It features traditional houses, local shops, and a central square where residents gather to meet and socialize.
The town was originally called Donja Dmitrova until the name changed to Tutin in 1831. This marked a shift from a tiny settlement of just several houses into a growing center for local trade and agriculture.
The town's name comes from a local story about a rebel army that camped near here generations ago. Today, residents keep traditions alive through local gatherings where music and dance celebrate the area's heritage.
The town is easy to explore on foot, with the central square as a natural starting point for visitors. Local markets are most active in the mornings, and the pace of life here is slower, so plan your walk accordingly.
The town started with just seven houses, mainly owned by the Hamzagić family, before growing slowly over time. These humble origins are still visible today in the quiet, tradition-focused character of the community.
