Canberra MRT station, Metro station in Sembawang, Singapore.
Canberra station is an elevated rail facility with two side platforms serving the North-South Line of Singapore's transit network. It features five entrances connected by covered walkways, 500 bicycle parking spaces, and direct access to nearby bus stops.
Construction began in April 2015 as the second infill station integrated into Singapore's existing rail network by the Land Transport Authority. This project marked a shift toward filling gaps in the system rather than building entirely new lines.
The station incorporates art pieces developed with local residents, creating spaces that reflect the area's identity and community involvement in its design.
The station is easily accessed through multiple entrances and provides ample bicycle parking for those combining rides with other transport modes. Covered walkways protect from rain and simplify navigation between different transport connections.
This station pioneered environmental design in Singapore's rail system and received Platinum certification from the Building and Construction Authority for its green features. This recognition helped establish sustainability as a priority in the city's future infrastructure projects.
