Sengkang Public Library

This modern library occupies levels 3 and 4 of Compass One shopping mall, covering approximately 2,136 square meters with spacious reading areas, computer stations, and dedicated zones for children and teenagers.

Originally opened on November 30, 2002, as Singapore's first do-it-yourself library, it underwent major renovations from October 2015 to March 2017, expanding by 18% and adding new sections for adolescents.

The library regularly hosts storytelling sessions, book clubs, reading programs for different age groups, and cultural exhibitions featuring local artists and authors to foster community engagement and literacy development.

Located near Sengkang MRT station with convenient public transport access, the library offers free Wi-Fi, photocopy machines, study rooms, digital catalogs, and e-resources that users can access remotely.

This facility was Singapore's pioneering do-it-yourself library concept, allowing visitors to perform borrowing and returning transactions independently with minimal staff assistance when it first opened in 2002.
