Seyhan River, River system in Adana Province, Turkey
The Seyhan is a major river that flows approximately 500 kilometers from the Nurhak Mountains through southern Anatolia and forms a broad delta at the Mediterranean Sea. The waterway passes through flat plains and is regulated by several dams that store and control water for the region.
Ancient civilizations knew this river as Pyramos and settled along its banks, which eventually grew into large cities like Adana. Control of its water was crucial to their development and continues to shape the region today.
