Adana Province

Adana Province is an administrative region in southern Turkey stretching from the fertile plains near the Mediterranean coast to the mountainous areas in the north. The territory includes cities, farmland, and natural coastal sections along the southern border.

The area served for centuries as a passage route for traders and armies moving between central Anatolia and the eastern Mediterranean. Different empires controlled the territory because of its position on key trade paths.

The area is known for its spicy cuisine featuring hot peppers and grilled meats served at family gatherings and public feasts. Cotton farming still shapes local agriculture, and many towns hold markets where farmers sell produce directly to visitors.

An international airport and rail links provide access to the larger towns in the region. Coastal areas and mountain ranges offer different travel activities depending on the season.

A large coastal lagoon serves as a stopover for migratory birds traveling twice a year between Europe and Africa. Birdwatchers from different countries visit the site during spring and autumn migration periods.
