Description

Ankara University Observatory is a research facility located at 1,256 meters elevation, equipped with nine optical telescopes and a radio telescope for astronomical observation. The site houses instruments dedicated to studying celestial objects and gathering scientific data about the sky.

History

The observatory was founded in 1963 after Dutch astrophysicist Egbert Adriaan Kreiken selected this site for its favorable geographic conditions. This establishment created an important observation station for astronomy in the region.
