Cinnah Caddesi, Avenue in Çankaya, Turkey
Cinnah Caddesi is an avenue stretching approximately 1800 meters through the center of Çankaya with multiple traffic lanes and many shops, restaurants, and offices lining both sides. The street runs through the heart of the district and serves as a major commercial and business hub.
The avenue underwent major reconstruction in the early 1990s under Mayor Mehmet Altınsoy to manage its steep slope by constructing underpasses beneath the street. This project significantly altered how traffic moved through the area and reshaped its infrastructure.
The street takes its name from Mohammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan, and serves as home to several diplomatic missions including those of India and Afghanistan. This concentration of embassies shapes the character and daily rhythm of the area.
The avenue is easy to explore on foot and offers shopping and dining options throughout its length. Keep in mind that traffic flows in one direction only, and it helps to start from the upper end when walking the street to follow the natural slope.
In 2006, the avenue was converted to one-way traffic flow, which significantly reduced congestion and improved mobility throughout the corridor. This change was a notable solution to managing heavy traffic in a dense urban setting.
