Taoyuan HSR station, THSR railway station
Taoyuan HSR Station is an underground high-speed rail station in Qingpu Village, Taoyuan, with two platforms serving trains heading north and south along Taiwan's main rail corridor. The station spans several floors, with ticketing counters, waiting areas, shops, restrooms, and luggage facilities spread across the different levels.
The station opened in 2007 as part of Taiwan's high-speed rail line, which was built to connect major cities along the western coast. Its arrival changed the area around Qingpu, drawing new commercial activity and making the district more accessible from Taipei and other cities.
The station sits close to Taoyuan International Airport, making it a natural stop for travelers moving between the airport and other cities in Taiwan. Many passengers here carry luggage and move with purpose, giving the station a different rhythm from typical urban rail hubs.
The station has clear signs in both Chinese and English throughout, so finding your platform or exit is straightforward even on your first visit. Elevators connect all levels, and it is worth checking your train direction before heading to the platform, as northbound and southbound trains use separate sides.
The station was designed by Kris Yao, a Taiwanese architect known for open and airy interiors, and natural light filters down into the underground levels through openings in the ceiling above. This means that even on the lower floors, the space does not feel entirely closed off from the outside world.
