Pike of Blisco, Mountain summit in Lake District, England
Pike of Blisco is a mountain in the Lake District located between Great Langdale and Little Langdale valleys, standing at approximately 705 meters. Its conical peak is marked by two distinct cairns at the summit.
An iron ore mine operated near Red Tarn from 1860 to 1875, making it one of the earliest industrial ventures in the area. The extraction efforts never became profitable despite continued attempts.
The mountain appears on multiple hiking lists, including Marilyn Hills, Hewitt Hills, and Wainwright Hills, making it a reference for British mountaineering.
Several routes lead to the summit, with the path from Three Shire Stone at Wrynose Pass providing the most gradual ascent. Good footwear is essential and caution is needed on steep sections, particularly in wet conditions.
From the summit, there are clear views across Great Langdale toward the Langdale Pikes and southward to the source of the River Duddon. This vantage point is especially popular with photographers capturing the peaks in changing light.
